West Central CIT Council

Law enforcement, mental health, and community partners working together on crisis response in Benton, Hickory, and St. Clair Counties, Missouri.

The West Central CIT Council is the local Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) council for Benton, Hickory, and St. Clair counties. We have been part of the statewide Missouri CIT program since 2017.

CIT brings together law enforcement and other first responders, behavioral health providers, hospitals, courts, people with lived experience, and community partners. The goal is safer, more effective responses when someone is experiencing a mental health crisis, and connecting people with appropriate care rather than defaulting to the criminal justice system.
